JUNE Newsletter 2020
REOPENING ON THE 15TH JUNE! Mary has enjoyed the break to cook, garden and redecorate. She has repainted the lounge, dining room and kitchen so far and added some new art work thanks to Minky at Prospect Vale shopping centre. New throw rugs and cushions have given a fresh new look to the lounge. Take a look at the updated entrance on your arrival. Kai has got his drivers licence, so if you see a gleaming clean gold Chrysler parked beside the shed with P plates, reverse back carefully. As of June the 15th, Mary and Kai will be reopening their services to existing and new clients (IPL, SCENAR, Skin Consultations, Facials, LED and Collagen Induction Therapy.) Even though COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted as of Friday the 5th of June, our business will remain closed until the 15th. There will be an appropriate amount of time between each client to comply with COVID-19 hygiene protocols as well as to avoid unnecessary clientele interaction. Appointment reminders will be sent 48 hours prior via email and text so please make sure we have your updated email. Obviously if you have any symptoms reschedule your appointment. We cannot wait to see all of your bright smiling faces and to catch up on all your latest news! COVID-19 PROTOCOLS STOP: CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) PRECAUTION Please do NOT enter the premises if: 1. You or someone in your household/workplace has returned from overseas within the last 14 days 2. You are experiencing any coughing, sore throat, difficulty breathing or fever-like symptoms 3. Mary and Kai are following strict hygiene protocols as per the Aesthetics Practitioners Advisory Network (APAN) and abiding by the guidelines of the Tasmanian Government surrounding COVID-19. BE AWARE OF DAMAGING CHEMICALS IN HAND SANITIZERS AND HAND WASHES During these times of COVID-19 and the excessive hand washing skin is being exposed to, is resulting in barrier disorders such as contact dermatitis and is not so much the result of soap and water, but the over washing of hands and the chemical emulsifiers as well as other damaging ingredients obtained in readily available formulations as seen in supermarkets and pharmaceutical businesses. Skin cleansing today is an integral part of everyday care, and choosing the right cleansers as well as sanitizers is important not only for clients’ with certain skin diseases or disorders, but also for consumers with healthy functioning skin. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is one of the worst offenders in hand sanitizers and hand washes as they cause a ‘wash-out’ effect of...

TEMPORARY BUSINESS CLOSURE We have temporarily closed our business during these crazy times, however, Kai and I are still available for product orders and deliveries. We are taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our clients and we appreciate all of you doing the same for Kai and I. We are unable to do any treatments at this point in time. Please stay safe, take care and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water rather than antibacterial gels where possible. WHAT TOXIC CHEMICALS ARE IN YOUR BATHROOM? What toxic chemicals are in your household? Letâs talk about cosmetic chemistry and address the use of toxic ingredients found within our everyday personal care products; from moisturizers and serums to shampoos and conditioners, to hand washes and antibacterial gels, you are lead to believe these products available to us in supermarkets and high-end department stores are good for us, however, this could not be further from the truth. Companies can and do legally use chemicals linked to cancer — (yes, you heard right more on that in a moment), birth defects and reproductive harm in the cosmetic products we use every day and a shocking number of dangerous chemicals hide in personal care products and cosmetics under the word âfragranceâ on product labels. The laws governing cosmetics and personal care products are so limited that known cancer-causing chemicals, or carcinogens, are legally allowed in personal care products. Some carcinogens, such as formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, are common in personal care products, while others are less common, but still occasionally present. Read labels and avoid cosmetics and personal care products containing formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives (quaternium-15, diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, DMDM hydantoin, and 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3 diol), phenacetin, coal tar, benzene, untreated or mildly treated mineral oils, ethylene oxide, chromium, cadmium and its compounds, arsenic and crystalline silica (or quartz). The truth is that the beauty industry is largely unregulated, and companies often have to define what âcleanâ means for themselves. For us, clean beauty is about being transparent with our ingredient selection process, so our customers can make an informed decision about what they put on their bodies every single day. Because we believe beauty isnât just about how you look, but how it makes you feelâfrom the inside out. During these unforeseen times surrounding COVID19, it is so important to know what ingredients you are coming into contact with on a daily basis that could be harming your largest organ, skin, and itâs physical and immunological barrier; the innate/adaptive immune system. If we donât have a healthy skin barrier, we are open to all kinds of allergens, pathogens, bacteria...
Mary’s Skin Care March updated news
Temporary Business Closure We have temporarily closed our business during these crazy times, however, Kai and I are still available for product orders and deliveries. We are taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our clients and we appreciate all of you doing the same for Kai and I. We are unable to do ANY treatments at this point in time. Once things change, we look forward to welcoming you all back with open arms and BIG HUGS! Please stay safe, take care and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water rather than antibacterial gels where possible. Mary will be returning to nursing for a while and she hopes she doesn’t have to look after any of YOU! If you can’t get a hold of Mary, message Kai on 0499515499. Remember MooGoo as your hand wash! Three BIG boxes of MooGoo products such as hand and body wash, moisturisers, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen etc came in today and they are here for ALL of your family and friends’ needs during this unforeseen time. Please don’t be buying damaging hand washes and moisturisers that will compromise your skin’s anatomical functions such as lipid (oil) production! This will leave your hands extremely dry and promote contact dermatitis. MooGoo Milk Wash as well as the A Bit Hippy Cleanser and dermaviduals Total Cleansing Cream is perfectly safe for your hands and will not damage them. Reminder, we also stock toothpaste, deodorants… basically ALL of your skin care needs with no toxic ingredients. Please keep supporting us! Hands & Hygiene Take extra care to wash your hands more regularly in light of the Coronavirus. Wash your hands thoroughly for 20-30 seconds (sing Happy Birthday twice) and just use soap and water wherever you are able to. Wear gloves and/or masks when required and stay home if you’re unwell. Mary would like to see more sensor taps installed in bathrooms, liquid soap dispensers and paper towels being used in bathrooms. The rubbish bin could be located outside the toilet area so you can use your paper towel to open the door with it and a rubbish bin outside of the toilets to dispose of the paper towel. How about more hand washing areas in our school classrooms? We are going to be seeing a rise in people suffering hand dermatitis from frequent hand washing and the use of antibacterial gels. Make sure you dry your hands well and apply a good quality hand moisturiser such as dermaviduals, Moo Goo or A Bit Hippy. Boost your immune system with a good pre/probiotic, Vitamin D, drink plenty of water, exercise and get a good amount of quality sleep. I...
Pregnancy and Skin
Congratulations to all of our clientsâ who have fallen pregnant. Mary and I couldnât be happier for you. I thought that I would take a bit of time and share some information along with some helpful tips that will support your skin during the next 9 months as your bodyâs anatomy undergoes significant changes that may have an impact on your skin. TIP 1: Avoid direct sun exposure on your face! Why? Pregnancy has a significant impact on your hormones and causes a major increase in progesterone, with the placenta turning out 10-20X higher than what is normally experienced during a regular menstruation cycle. Progesterone increases the activity of the Melanin-Stimulating-Hormone (MSH) which triggers the melanocyte (pigment cell) to produce significant amounts of melanin which can result in pigmentation disorders. Estrogen when out of balance can also give rise to pigmentation so if you are experiencing signs of pigmentation during your pregnancy, and you know youâre staying out of the sun, donât panic. Once the cause has been removed IE your baby, the skin should return to ânormalâ if you have not overexposed your pigment cells to significant amounts of ultraviolet radiation during this time. What can you do? Consult with your Corneotherapist about updating your prescription and adding in tyrosinase inhibitors that can slow down the transfer of melanin within the skin as well as wearing sunscreen, polarised sunglasses and solar barrier hats and clothing to protect you. We recommended solbari.com.au TIP 2: Why am I experiencing acne during my pregnancy? Answer: Some woman experience beautiful skin during their pregnancy, while others have the complete opposite. You must understand every cell in the skin has hormone receptors and these particular receptors or âdocking stationsâ as I call them may be having a sensitivity and/or intolerance to the overabundance of progesterone that is being bestowed upon them; altering the quality and quantity of your sebaceous secretions (oil) and inflicting poor corneocyte compaction which can lead to congested and acneic skin. What can you do? This is rather challenging as it is an intrinsic factor, however, one can most definitely support their skin with physiological skincare preparations, 5a Reductase inhibitors (consult with your Corneotherapist) and enzymatic exfoliation instead of ablating the skin with products and/or modalities that compromise skin barrier defence and make acne worse! Take our word for it; donât have ANY microdermabrasions or chemical peels. Consulting with a Naturopathic Practitioner is also advised during this time to support your hormones. TIP 3: What can I do about stretch marks? Answer: Daily massage with skin nurturing substances such as our dermaviduals Body Lotion and Wheat Germ Oil can really help to improve the elasticity of the skin as the...
February 2020 news.
SCENAR Training We have just completed 4 days of SCENAR level 1 and 2 training. It was very intense but very helpful and we’re looking forward to treating more clients with this technology. We don’t use a Western medicine approach but instead treat the whole body, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The technology is from Russia and is like a TEN’S machine but it has a biofeedback mechanism which means your body cannot become accustomed to it like it will with a TEN’s. The only contraindications are if you have a pacemaker, if you are an epileptic or have an infectious skin disease. We’ve already treated many clients successfully and want to help more people who have either chronic or acute pain. I had tendonitits in both of my arms from too much gardening and I have treated that and have no symptoms now. Other clients are now no longer requiring pain medication. Why not consider this option before you take medications or have surgery?? Please consider and make an educated researched decision on what is best for long term health benefits. Remember the body heals from the top to the bottom and from inside to outside. Do you or anyone you know need this to help your body function better and be rid of pain without medications? This month we will be offering these 1 hour treatments for $55 instead of $75. For more information please click here. Facial Options We are introducing a 30 minute facial for those of you who are time poor or need a pick me up. This will cost $75 and will include a double cleanse, treatment tonic, serums and an infusion mask. Speaking Opportunities We recently talked to the Launceston Cancer Council to share our knowledge which was so rewarding. We’re pleased to let you know that we will be doing more of these events and happy to do one for any group, college etc that would like us to speak. Key Dates Kai and Mary away from 16th to 20th February for dermavdiuals products and skin needling annual training. February Special! This months specials.
